The main difference between Personal Management and Human Resource Management lies in their scope and assimilation. While the scope of Personal Management is narrow and has an inverted approach, where employees are viewed as tools rather machines, here the behavior of the worker can be manipulated as per the core competencies of the organization and replaced when they are worn out.

The role of human resource management is to plan, develop and administer policies and design programs to make diligent use of an organization's human resources. It is that part of management which is concerned with the people at work and with their relationship with the organization.
